  • Completed 3 trash cleanups on Rte. 53, Dean to Syberton (9 miles), our 12th year of this project.
  • Initiated two stream cleanups of Clearfield Creek from Dean to Ashville (5 miles).
  • Organized the Eleventh Annual Fishing Derby for kids at Dysart – 125 participants. 
  • Maintained our membership of 120 members for 2014.  Continued a junior membership category-$1.00 fee. 
  • Continued to provide financial support for the “Trout in the Classroom” project at Penn Cambria Middle School.
  • Provided a field day for 76 Penn Cambria middle school students, 4 teachers: released fingerlings, stocked trout provided by PA Fish Commission, lunch, visited Brubaker clay mine site.
  • Received the following Grants: $42,350 from USA EPA 319 for design and permitting of the Beldin Treatment system; received a grant of $600 for water sampling from Dominion-Peoples Gas Co. 
  • Bid the Gibson-Halstok Treatment Project- awarded contract to Earthshapers Inc., construction to begin in early 2015.
  • Awarded and signed a $900,000 contract for construction of the West Ferris Wheel treatment system.
  • Renovated the Klondike-1 treatment system-$52,900 from the US Office of Surface Mining and Pa Quick Response Funds.
  • Requested proposals for an active treatment system for the major discharge on Brubaker Run, based on a study of treatment alternatives.
  • Submitted a Growing Greener proposal for $487,535 for construction at the Amsbry Project.
  • Continued the study of the Swank limestone channel and the Klondike system with Saint Francis University students.
  • Conducted an assessment of mine drainage on Valley Fork Run, near Woodland, PA, supported by a $2,700 grant from an anonymous donor.
  • Successfully petitioned the State to designate 3 tributaries to Glendale Lake as Extra Value quality.
  • Assist the DEP, Ebensburg office, with water sampling and flow measurements at 11 sites on upper Clearfield Creek.
  • Continued monitoring of Witmer Run and Slatelick Run for gas well contaminants, using data collected on data loggers.       
  • Commissioned a study by Trout Unlimited of fish and macroinvertebrates on Little Laurel Run.
  • Conducted an internal assessment survey and Board retreat, organized and funded by Trout Unlimited, leading to improved understanding of Board activities.
  • Sampled the Ace Drilling site quarterly under contract with the DEP Office, Ebensburg.
  • Exhibited a display and discussed CCWA activities at the annual Cider Festival at Prince Gallitzin State Park.
  • Continue to assist the PA Fish Commissiowith stocking of fish in Clearfield Creek from Ashville to Condrin Bridge.
  • Revised and updated our website (www.clearfieldcreekwatershed.org) and received newspaper coverage on activities and projects numerous times.  Continued the CCWA facebook account.
