The CCWA was founded in 2001 by a group of concerned citizens looking to improve the watershed. The watershed had been severely impacted by abandoned mine drainage (AMD) and many thought there was no hope of returning the waterways to what they once were. Members saw that the AMD could be cleaned up and the stream could once again support life. Through the continued work of dedicated CCWA volunteers and their many partners improvements are being seen.
